Biography
Touted as a “photographic child prodigy”, Indira Cesarine’s first solo exhibition was at the age of 16 at the Paul Mellon Arts Center. By the time she graduated high school she had exhibited 4 one-woman shows of her photographic work. While finishing a triple major in Art History, French Literature and Women’s Studies at Columbia University, she began shooting for a variety of top modeling agencies including Elite and Ford Models. Once she finished her degree, she went to London to pursue her interests in photography and journalism.
Her photography has been featured in countless international publications including British Vogue, GQ, Glamour, Marie Claire, Tatler, The Times, In Style and L’Officiel. She has worked commercially for global brands such as Dior, Charles Jourdan, Kenzo, Cerruti, Body Shop, Nivea, and Agent Provocateur to name a few. Aside from her work as a photographer, she has worked throughout her career as a contributing editor to various publications, including as “Fashion Editor at Large” of Lush Magazine. Her career as a director began when she with her first short film, “City of Love” being featured at Cannes Film Festival in 2007. Since then she has directed, produced and edited numerous short films while maintaining an active career as a photographer. In 2009 she launched XXXX Magazine, “The Untitled Magazine”, a multimedia publication showcasing original productions of fashion films, video art and documentary shorts. The print edition The Untitled Magazine was launched in 2011 and is distributed in more than 30 countries, including US, Canada, UK, throughout Europe, China, Japan, Brazil and many more locations.
Recent exhibits of her work include “Facets of Figuration” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art; The “Voyeur” Exhibit at Art Basel Miami, in collaboration with Miami Art Museum Contemporaries, American Friends of the Louvre and Quintessentially; “Motion Deconstructed” Exhibit with Quintessentiallly Art, New York; “Soiree Au Louvre” at the French Embassy Cultural Center; “Carte Blanche” solo show at Visionairs Gallery, Paris. Her documentary short film, “In Face of Disability” was featured at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner. Indira Cesarine and XXXX Magazine video productions can also be seen regularly on the Big Screen Plaza outdoor cinema in Chelsea, New York.
Indira and her work has been featured internationally on TV shows such as E! TV, Fashion TV, Entertainment Tonight, Inside Edition, HBO’s Special “Ford Supermodel of the World”, MTV, ‘HIGH SOCIETY’ and “Make me a Supermodel” UK and US editions. H&M recently commissioned her to cover Spring /Summer 2012 trends for their H&M LIFE TV edition.
