Stylist Magazine from London asked me to photograph a beauty story with the Creative Director of MAC cosmetics, Terry Barber, for their Fashion Week special issue. We shot in West London at Jasmine Studios. Our model Joanna Stubbs from Models 1 was lovely – I had shot her before for art house publication Wound Magazine. Terry had some brilliant ideas for beauty looks, it was great to work with him. You can always tell a great makeup artist by the fact that aside from inspirational ideas, there isn’t too much retouching required in post production. It is almost shocking sometimes the amount of work we need to do in post to clean up messy makeup. Many make up artists think they can rely on the retouchers to fix their work I guess … In this case, the work was flawless! Emma Smith, who used to be at Tatler, was the beauty editor on the shoot. We are shooting another beauty story in New York at Soho House in May, although this time with make-up artist Kim Soane from Bobbi Brown.
