Featuring “Pandora’s Box (Shh)” Neon Sculpture by Indira Cesarine.

The 25th edition of ARTWALK NY took place on November 18, 2019 at Spring Studios with a silent auction at 6:30 followed by a live auction at 8:00 pm. All proceeds benefit the life-saving programs of The Coalition of the Homeless NYC. This year’s edition is presented by Max Mara.

Each year, ARTWALK NY brings together hundreds of artists, art-lovers and other compassionate New Yorkers to celebrate the role of “artist-as-activist,” to raise awareness about the crisis of mass homelessness, and to support programs that directly help homeless men, women, and children.  The Coalition for the Homeless provides emergency food and clothing, eviction prevention, crisis services, permanent housing, job training and special programs for kids to over 3,500 people a day. Since 1981, the organization has given more than one million homeless New Yorkers a way off the streets. This year’s benefit auction, featuring works by Katherine Bernhardt, Deborah Kass, Russell Young, Ed Ruscha, Cindy Sherman, Walter Robinson, Jenny Holzer, Eric Fischl, Mr Brainwash, Jessica Lichtenstein, Albert Watson, Bob Gruen, Indira Cesarine, and more.

“Pandora’s Box (Shh)” reflects on the multiple meanings and innuendos of the expression “shh”. It is the most recent edition of Cesarine’s “Consent” series of neon Pandora’s Box sculptures. The glass neon letters spelling out “Shh” are mounted into a double mirrored cube, which is transparent on all sides, and mounts to a wall. “Pandora’s Box (Shh)” edition in dark orange was created in 2019 and premiered at Artwalk NY 2019 Benefit Exhibit and Auction. The sculpture is available as 6 unique works, with each one having in unique color variation, including red, blue, orange, and violet. Each sculpture is made by hand, and thus has slight variations in the glass and mounting.
