INDIRA CESARINE SCULPTURE CATALOG
Explore a curated selection of sculptural works by artist Indira Cesarine. Cesarine’s sculptural practice spans welded steel, neon, glass, resin, plaster, and mixed media, extending themes of transformation, symbolism, femininity, and human connection beyond the photographic image and into three-dimensional form. Working across both figurative and conceptual approaches, her sculptures explore mythology, identity, memory, activism, and the emotional resonance of materiality.
Ranging from intimate wall-mounted works and illuminated neon sculptures to figurative steel works and large-scale public art commissions, these artworks reflect Cesarine’s ongoing exploration of feminism, symbolism, social justice, identity, and the transformative power of light. Together, they demonstrate a multidisciplinary sculptural practice that bridges conceptual art, activism, mythology, and contemporary storytelling.
Cesarine first began creating sculpture in 2014 when she was commissioned to produce “The Egg of Light” for the Fabergé Big Egg Hunt, exhibited at Rockefeller Center alongside works by internationally acclaimed artists including Jeff Koons and Zaha Hadid. The experience marked a pivotal turning point in her artistic practice, leading her to explore new materials and processes including welded steel, casting, resin, glass, and neon.
Her figurative and steel sculptures often draw inspiration from mythology, archetypal feminine figures, and the symbolism of nature. Floral motifs recur throughout her work as metaphors for transformation, resilience, desire, loss, and renewal, while portraits and gestural forms explore themes of strength, vulnerability, and personal empowerment. Through fractured forms, expressive silhouettes, and symbolic imagery, her sculptures invite viewers into narratives that are both intimate and universal.
Alongside her figurative works, Cesarine has developed an extensive body of neon sculpture that merges conceptual text, activism, and poetic language. Utilizing hand-bent neon as both medium and message, these illuminated works examine identity, feminism, social justice, and the transformative power of words. Many of her neon sculptures incorporate photography, plexiglass, molded resin, and other mixed media elements, expanding the expressive possibilities of the medium. Whether through historical references, personal narratives, or calls to action, her neon works encourage viewers to engage with ideas of agency, resistance, and possibility.
Cesarine’s sculptures have been exhibited internationally at museums, galleries, public art initiatives, art fairs, and cultural institutions including Rockefeller Center, Hudson Valley MOCA, The Watermill Center, Smack Mellon, A.I.R. Gallery, Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition, the Mattatuck Museum, Agnes Varis Art Center, Pen + Brush, SCOPE Art Show, SPRING/BREAK Art Show, David Benrimon Fine Art, Oculus World Trade Center, The Untitled Space, and SaveArtSpace public art installations.
