“HELEN”, 2017 is a watercolor series by Indira Cesarine inspired by Helen of Troy. The works are part of an ongoing series inspired by interpretations of what is beauty historically, as well as challenging current beauty standards in our culture. In Greek mythology, Helen of Troy, daughter of Zeus and Leda, was considered the most beautiful woman in the world. Her beauty has inspired artists throughout time who usually depict her as the personification of ideal beauty.
